The hanging gardens is an experience into a forgotten space, one still debated in history in terms of its reality and appearance. Here you can be completely submerged into a new surrounding, as the gardens are reimagined in a modernized setting, bringing you high above the ground. The main experience prioritizes the true feeling of being above in the air as you watch water falling from the gardens, giving anunforeseen and exhilarating sensation simply from being in the space. This experience brings you to discover all aspects of the hanging gardensas you marvel at the rich and luscious greenery you are set to wander and discover where paths may lead you. 4 main structures provide different experiences. Each one seamlessly hanging in the air with waterfalls flowing down into a lake and vegetation wrapped.

Description

This project was a group project done in groups of 4, this was our application to the Disney imageneering competition of 2018. The competition is based on creating an experience set around one of the wonders of the world, here we choose the ancient gardens of Babylon. In the group I was the leader and main writer of the project’s story and research, while also contributing to the renderings, design ideas, and Photoshop editing.

Project Details

Each of the 4 structures serve a specific function, the first being the highest structure, a miniature version of the hanging garden, the most filled with exotic plants and vines. The second serving as a relaxation space with a bar supplying refreshments and a heated pool overlooking the scenery of waterfalls. The next structure is a restaurant experience, serving a variety from luxurious to simple food, all themed around the hanging gardens and their main features. Lastly the final structure serves to supply the history and knowledge of the hanging gardens, enriching the user.

Each space is set to perfectly portray a constant surprise element, providing many experiences that merge perfectly with the space, it’s themes and historic features. The historic elements incorporated supply an authentic feeling with motifs and patterns of lions, unicorns, dragons and soldiers. Merging mystical wildlife and historical context into the natural environment. Thus making the experience more unique and unknown, with plant life shaped as animals surround the specific structures that represent them, the spaces keep specific themes consistent and various. As a core this space aims to provide a dreamlike experience, centered around nature and a modernized Babylonian history.
